Iron Oxide: Another Step in the Path of Product Diversification at Kavian Steel

Alongside the production of steel billets and iron briquettes, Kavian Steel Complex, relying on its technical knowledge and advanced equipment, has taken another step towards product diversification and meeting the needs of various industries. We are proud to be one of the top producers of “iron oxide” or “iron concentrate” in the country.

  • What is Iron Oxide?

Iron oxide is a chemical compound composed of iron and oxygen. This substance is found in nature in various minerals such as hematite, magnetite, and limonite, and has high importance in terms of color variety and application.

  • Types of Iron Oxide:
  1. Hematite: This type of iron oxide is reddish-brown in color and is used in the steel, pigment, concrete, and construction industries.
  2. Limonite: Limonites have a yellow to brown color range and are used in various industries such as water treatment, paint production, and ceramics.
  3. Magnetite: Magnetite or black iron oxide is found naturally and, due to its strong magnetic properties, is used in MRI scans, pharmaceutical industries, and steel cutting.
  • The Role of Iron Oxide in Steel Production:

Iron ore and iron concentrate are used as raw materials in the production and processing of steel products. In fact, in the steel production process, iron ore is first converted into iron concentrate or iron oxide (Iron Ore concentrate) or iron powder or pellets, and then converted into steel and steel billets through a process.

  • Iron Concentrate in Kavian Steel:

In addition to producing steel billets and sponge iron, Kavian Steel, using the rich iron ore mines near it, proceeds to process and produce high-quality and high-grade iron concentrate. This product, considering its various applications in different industries, is considered one of the valuable raw materials in the country’s steel chain.

  • Applications of Iron Oxide:

In addition to being used in the steel industry, iron oxide has various other applications, including:

  1. Art and Culture: From ancient times to Renaissance paintings, iron oxide has been used as a pigment. The warm and natural colors of this material give a special appearance to works of art.
  2. Medicine and Imaging: Iron oxide nanoparticles, due to their magnetic properties, are used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to diagnose diseases and tumors. This material is also used in some treatment methods.
  3. Cosmetics and Personal Care: Iron oxide, due to its natural colors and harmlessness, is used in the production of cosmetics and personal care products such as foundation, blush, and eyeshadow.

Kavian Steel Complex, a pioneer in the production of high-quality iron oxide and a variety of products in the service of various industries.
